Vote-By-Mail Deadline In Less Than A Month

Face shields, temperature checks and disposable pens are just some of the safeguards Florida officials plan to employ to combat COVID-19, as they brace for elections in August and November.

Leon County Supervisor of Elections Mark Earley has worked in the elections industry for more than three decades.

He is asking people to vote before Election Day if they can, saying requests for mail-in ballots have doubled.

Registered voters have until august 8th to request a vote by mail ballot.

Hillsborough elections supervisor Graig Latimer tells Newschannel 8 you can request a ballot on line, on the phone, by fax, or in person at the supervisor of elections office.

If you change your mind after receiving your ballot and decide you want to vote in person instead, a poll official will cancel your vote by mail ballot when you check in to vote.

Florida's primary is set for August 18th with the general election on November 3rd.
